Don is a life-long resident of the Beaches. He attended Beaches schools, graduated from Fletcher High School in 1963, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in 1967. He served in the U. S. Army from 1967-70 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain. Don married Nancy Macauley in 1970 and they raised two wonderful daughters, Jennifer and Melinda. Don and Nancy still reside in the home they built in 1987 in Atlantic Beach.
Following his military service, Don worked in retail and wholesale sales and management for hardware, construction, and industrial products. In 1982 he opened his own insurance agency representing a well-known, national, multiple line insurance company and built it over the years to very successful agency with several employees. During that time he received numerous honors and recognitions for sales and quality achievements. He retired from the national company after twenty seven years and founded First Beaches Insurance in 2009.
Don has had licenses with the state of Florida since 1982 to sell and service all types of property and casualty insurance, as well as life and health insurance. He has stayed current with all of the continuing education requirements in his field to be certain to provide his customers with accurate, courteous and professional insurance advice and service.
George is a 45-year resident of the beaches where he and his wife, the former Sissy Conley, raised their three children, Ginny, Jamie and George. He attended Jacksonville public schools and received his Bachelor of Science degree in advertising from the University of Florida in 1970. He served in the Florida Army National Guard for 21 years, retiring as a Major in 1992.
George has been active in his community for many years, serving as a volunteer with Mission House in Jacksonville Beach since 1993 and as an active member of Rotary throughout his career. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of The University of Florida Alumni Association from 2004-2010 and the charter president of the Jacksonville Gator Club. George served as president of the Beaches Quarterback Club as well president of the Beaches Aquatic Club swim team for four years.
George started in the insurance industry in 1972 with Gay & Petway Insurance. In 1978 he started his 31-year career as an agent representing a well-known, national, multiple line insurance company in Jacksonville Beach, retiring from that company in 2010. On March 1, 2011, George joined First Beaches Insurance with Don Chao and his son, George Garcia IV.
George Garcia IV
George was born and raised in the beaches area. He graduated from The Bolles School in 2000. After high school he attended the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Political Science in 2005. Upon graduation, he worked for State Farm until 2007 as an agent’s assistant.He then worked for Episcopal High School as a middle school teacher and assistant swim coach until 2010.
In August of 2010 George accepted a position with First Beaches Insurance as an agent. He is licensed to sell all types of property and casualty insurance. He has stayed current with all of the continuing education requirements in his field and looks forward to providing excellent customer service to the Jacksonville area.
George married Atlantic Beach resident Ashley Watterson in 2010 and looks forward to growing his family in the Jacksonville area.
